WVU Awards Massaro Two new General Construction Contracts

February 2010 -Massaro Corporation is performing general contracting services for West Virginia University’s Biomedical Lab and Basketball Practice Facility.

The 65,000 square foot Basketball Practice Facility, located on the Evansdale campus, will feature two separate gym areas for the men’s and women’s teams, a weight training center, theater-style meeting space for each program, an athletic training room and a Basketball Hall of Traditions. According to James P. Clements, president of WVU, the cost of the nearly $19 million Basketball Practice Facility is being made possible, through the generosity of more than 40 private donors. A ground-breaking ceremony was held on February 4. Construction completion is scheduled for May 2011.

Also currently under construction, is the Biomedical Lab, a 26,000 square foot fit-out within an existing 114,000 square foot building. The project includes lab and research space, classrooms, a darkroom, new offices, restrooms and common areas. Construction completion is slated for November 2010.
