Wellness Tips to Cut Calories

July 2008 – As part of Massaro Corporation’s continued efforts to encourage our employees to learn more about wellness, below are few tips to help with cutting calories without sacrificing taste:

  • Instead of pouring your dressing over your salad, simply dip your fork into the dressing before each bite. You’ll save a lot of unnecessary calories without sacrificing taste.
  • Switch from whole milk to skim milk.
  • Make your sandwiches open-faced. One slice averages 80 calories, so you will save calories but still feel full.
  • Eat slower. Research shows you eat approximately 60 fewer calories per meal when you slow down.
  • Trim liquid calories by choosing
    • vitamin/Life water = 125 calories
    • 8 oz. fruit juice = 110 calories (as opposed to)
    • 20 oz. bottle of soda = 250 calories

Of course cutting back calories will help maintain your weight and keep you feeling good, but the real key is exercise. So, lace up those sneakers and get outside for a walk and keep a positive attitude!
