The Barnhart Outing Raised $10,000 for The Woodlands Foundation
October 2007 – Another successful Barnhart Golf Outing was held on September 22 at Bird’s Foot Golf Course in Freeport. One hundred and twenty-eight golfers, made up of friends, family, business associates, Massaro employees, subcontractors and vendors, attended the 10th annual fundraising event honoring Carl Barnhart, a much valued and missed Massaro employee who suddenly died in early 1998.
Each year Massaro Corporation selects a non-profit organization to be the recipient of the proceeds generated from the outing. This year’s recipient was The Woodlands Foundation whose mission is to enrich the lives of children and adults with disabilities and chronic illness. The Woodlands offers a true camping and outdoor experience without barriers for the disabled. Their goal is to eliminate the physical and social barriers to involvement so that participants can fully experience activities that nurture their social, cultural, recreational, environmental, and spiritual well-being. A $10,000 check was presented to Mr. Peter Clakeley, executive director, on October 19 from Joseph Massaro III.
Although nobody won the $30,000 prize for a hole-in-one, a great time was had by all. The winning foursome came from Star electric and was awarded a $400.00 prize. Massaro would like to thank the 53 contributors that made this year’s outing successful. A special thanks to our major sponsors Pat Ionadi Corporation and TD Patrinos Painting & Contracting.
