Massaro Sponsors May Day Madness
June 2007 - Massaro Corporation recently lent support for Auberle, a non-profit organization dedicated to the caring of abused, neglected and troubled children, by sponsoring and participating in the 12th Annual May Day Madness Event. Massaro volunteers helped to teach the kids important life lessons such as citizenship, teamwork and sportsmanship.
Massaro volunteers, Steven Massaro, Rob Chambers III, along with his son, and Jason Sigal coached and lead teams of Auberle kids on the May 19th event. Massaro lead two teams, each with two Auberle kids through the day’s activities. The teams participated in a variety of fun and challenging events for both the mind and body. The activities were geared toward learning team building and working together to accomplish goals. Some of the proceedings included such fun favorites as the water relay, hula-hoop contest, and the story board game.
Funds raised as a result of May Day Madness were used to send Auberle children to the national H’Olympics from June 8 through June 13. The H’Olympics is a national event with Olympic-type athletic contests geared toward both individuals and teams. The cost for 30 students to attend the H’Olympics is approximately $32,200.
Based in McKeesport, Auberle has been dedicated to the mission of caring for and healing abused, neglected and troubled children throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania for more than 50 years. Programs helping children and their families include residential care, foster care, emergency shelter, in-home intervention, education and community programs. Family preservation, the reuniting of families in a positive home environment and preparing children to be responsible adults are the ultimate goals of Auberle.
