Massaro Educates the Residents of Auberle
October 2007 – Mike Tarle, director of design build services for Massaro Corporation, is leading the efforts to educate and inform the residents of Auberle about the design and construction industry. Auberle is a faith based Catholic agency whose mission is to help troubled children and families heal themselves. They have helped thousands of children and their families through residential care, foster care, emergency shelter, in-home intervention, education and community programs throughout the past 50 years.
Massaro Corporation has recently been awarded the contract to design and build Auberle’s “GOAL” Building. The “GOAL” building is a 9,144 square foot dormitory that will house 24 teenage boys who have been displaced and need housing. The building design calls for 24 individual dorm rooms, 8 communal bathrooms, a living area, and a laundry facility and residential kitchen where the residents can learn everyday life skills. This $1,797,328 construction project began in early October and is slated for completion in March of 2008. During the preconstruction and construction phases, Mike Tarle, and other Massaro staff members, will educate the residents of Auberle about different construction career options exposing them to all aspects of the industry. At different intervals throughout the 6 month construction process after school classes will be offered. Mike will help the residents understand what it takes to become an architect and what he does on a day-to-day basis. Other volunteers of Massaro will provide relevant information about how to become, and what it means to be, an estimator, superintendent, electrician, mason, plumber and a HVAC specialist. On-site construction tours are planned as well as hands on opportunities.
