Massaro Corporation - United Way Day of Caring

December 2007 - One of our guiding principles at Massaro is to ‘serve the communities in which we work’. We have made it a priority to give back whenever possible. As we are now at the height of the holiday season, it is the perfect time to share the spirit of giving.

The United Way Day of Caring matches corporate volunteers with projects at local nonprofit health and human service agencies. Through this program we were able to choose where we wanted to volunteer.

On Friday, November 30, 2007 a group of thirteen Massaro office employees altered their daily routine to volunteer at Auberle. Located in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Auberle is a non-profit organization dedicated to the mission of caring for and healing abused, neglected children throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania for the last 50 years.

The goal for the Day of Caring was to paint one of the student housing wings, which included several student dormitory rooms, a common area and the bathroom and shower stalls. Auberle has one person on staff to essentially do all of the painting throughout the property. Massaro employees who volunteered for the project include Barb Haas, John Kristoff, Kevin Nestor, Matt Winkler, Adam DiMenno, Justin Lamb, Lisa Clark, Mike Yohe, Jeff Weiss, Jean Mignogna, Zach Schweitzer, Lisa Perroz, and Maureen McGinley.

The Auberle staff welcomed Massaro employees with open arms and was very thankful for the efforts put forth. More importantly, Massaro Corporation is thrilled to be able to donate the time and hard work to such a deserving organization.
