Massaro Connects Youth to Careers

August 2009 – One of the objectives of Massaro’s diversity initiative is to connect youth to careers in construction. Over the past two years, Massaro employees have served as mentors to students at Peabody and Westinghouse High Schools, hosted several Professional Days for over a hundred local high school students and provided summer internship opportunities for high school students. This summer, Greg White, a recent graduate of Peabody High School, is interning in our estimating department. Greg was introduced to Massaro through the CLAAY (Career Literacy for All American Youth) program. Greg was mentored by Massaro employee, Rob Chambers, and also attended one of Massaro’s Professional Days in June. Rob recognized Greg’s potential and talent and connected him to the internship opportunity at Massaro. He was placed in the design/build division of Massaro under the supervision of Mike Tarle, director, design/build services and registered architect. Greg will be attending Penn State University in the fall on a full scholarship for architecture. Greg is one of five summer interns currently at Massaro.
