Going Green at Massaro
December 2007 – As the demand for green design and construction increases, so too does the demand for LEED certified professionals and experienced builders. At Massaro we encourage sustainable design and can address the needs of our customers who choose to build green. We truly believe in integrating environmentally responsible, high-performance concepts into our projects and we have incorporated those beliefs into the design and construction of our 8,100 square foot addition.
Throughout Massaro Corporation’s addition, educational signs will be posted to convey the environmentally friendly features and construction practices that have been implemented. When visiting our corporate offices, please take the time to read and learn about how building green can enhance the office environment.
Some features that were implemented include storm water quality control; water savings with the installation of low-flow, duel-flush toilets and urinals and motion sensored faucets. Energy reduction practices were incorporated to reduce our total energy cost by over 20%. To assist in the energy reduction cost, oversized windows and skylights were installed in addition to an occupancy sensored lighting system. Green practices were utilized during construction through the recycling of debris and the use of specialized materials.
