Diversity Outreach Coordinator
January 2008 - Massaro Corporation believes in doing more than just making a good faith effort to satisfy the participation requirements for Minority and Women Business Enterprises.
Arthur Sheffield was hired as our minority outreach coordinator in June of 2007 and was previously employed at WTW Architects. Art has significantly contributed to the minority and women-owned business contacts and continues to help with diversity initiatives for Massaro Corporation. Art graduated from Howard University with a bachelor’s degree in architecture.
Also employed at Massaro Corporation is Robert Chambers, business development representative, who is the former director of diversity at the Three Rivers Rowing Association. Rob earned his bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Norfolk State University. Rob is a founding member of Onyx Alliance, a non-profit organization focused on the need to attract and retain young African American professionals to the Pittsburgh region. Art served as president of the organization. Together, Art and Rob utilize their knowledge of the MBE/WBE community to identify project participants for Massaro Corporation.
We work with the National Association of Minority Contractors and the Black Contractors Associations through Art who is a board member for both organizations. Our community outreach efforts are extensive and include working with the Hill House Association, the Urban League of Pittsburgh and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People to ensure that there is fair and equal opportunity to participate on any outstanding project.
Over the years, Massaro Corporation has assembled a comprehensive database of MBE/WBE subcontractors that we contact for projects. We keep abreast of this growing market and strengthen and broaden our use of MBE/WBE with the help of Arthur Sheffield and Robert Chambers.
