Addition Achieves LEED Certification
June 2009 -Massaro Corporation is proud to announce that our new office addition has achieved LEED Certification, one of only 30 such buildings in the Pittsburgh area. Of these, only Massaro Corporation’s office addition is certified under LEED NC 2.2.
The 8,100 square foot addition was complete in January of 2008 and features an array of sustainable principles. The new construction added 21 offices, a second kitchen, conference rooms, a third set of restrooms and a library area with additional open work spaces. At the same time, the existing space was renovated and updated to match the new décor and to accommodate additional personnel.
The new office space includes floor to ceiling windows and skylights to enable natural sunlight to drench the interior space. Interior offices include sidelights and transoms to allow the light to flow throughout. During construction we recycled waste, reused building materials and selected sustainable materials for our furniture, carpeting, roof and sealants. Additionally, we incorporated green principles in our parking lots by providing preferred parking for low-emitting, fuel-efficient vehicles as well as those who choose to carpool.
