In the Community

Community Involvement

One of our Guiding Principles is that “We serve the communities in which we work by encouraging our employees to become involved in non-profit, charitable, and educational organizations.”

At Massaro, we believe it is our obligation to contribute to the communities in which we work. We believe that being a good citizen is equally important as being a good contractor.

We believe that it is simply good business to contribute our time and resources to help make our region a better place and to serve the people within a community who need our help.

CARL BARNHART Memorial Golf Outing

Massaro is pleased to announce the 12th annual Carl Barnhart Memorial Golf Outing will be held at Birdsfoot Golf Club on Saturday, September 19, 2009.

Each year, Massaro Corporation hosts this charity event to raise money in memory and honor of Carl Barnhart, a valued field supervisor who tragically died in an automobile accident.  For the past 12 years, Massaro Corporation has chosen a different non-profit client to be the recipient of this exciting and charitable event.

The 2009 beneficiary will be the Hill House Association.  Massaro Corporation is the general contractor for the renovations of the Hill House Auditorium.  When complete in 2010, the new facility will be known at the Elsie H. Hillman Auditorium at Kaufmann Center.

Over the past 12 years the event has grown in sponsorship and golfers.  We would like to thank all of our previous sponsors for contributing and making our events a great success.  We hope to see you once again on the golf course.  For more information, contact Hilary Brown, community affairs coordinator at 412.963.2800 x 304 or hbrown@massarocorporation.com.

2008 United Way Campaign

As part our our commitment to giving back, Massaro Corporation will once again join the United Way’s fundraising efforts.  Each year, a committee is selected, made up of representatives from each department at Massaro, to implement fundrasing activities generating income to donate to the United Way.   The campaign began in October 2008 and will continue through to the end of March 2009.  Last year’s campaign raised approximately $8,600 for the United Way.  This year, our goal is $10,000!

Days of Caring

On November 7, a dedicated Massaro team headed to the YMCA, located on the Boulevard of the Allies, to donate their time, energy and painting skills as part of the United Way Days of Caring.  The Massaro employees who generously donated their efforts include Bruce Fox, Zach Schweitzer, James Johnson, Renee Batronis, Rob Chambers, Justin Lamb, Jeff Weiss, Matt Winkler, Lisa Clark, John Buechli, Jeremy Tartt and Jeremy Bowlby.  A great thanks and appreciation to all who participated. Way to go Massaro Team!
